Did you know that depression and anxiety are often the result of a trauma?

These traumas may include hostile family relationships, incessant criticism, abandonment, death of a loved one, relationship breakup etc. Even a seemingly insignificant trauma such as witnessing a minor car accident can be experienced as a trauma in certain contexts. The disturbing emotions attached to the past trauma remain in the nervous system. These painful emotions can then be activated long after the trauma.

Traumatic memories are stored in the right side of the brain. And core beliefs attached to the trauma are stored in the left side. Traditional talk therapy engages the left hemisphere of the brain only. Lisa uses various counselling approaches that engage both the right and left hemispheres. This comprehensive therapy approach helps to ensure that all of the dimensions of the problem are addressed and that long term change can therefore be initiated.
